New Song “Wings”
I’ve been busy lately and haven’t had much time for songwriting but here is a new song finally! This song was inspired mostly by Isaiah 40:28-31 after helping our Portland To Coast team this year. I walked last year but due to an injury I was along as moral support and official photographer this year to cheer on my wife and our baby! This is a song about relying on God’s strength to help us on this path of life, he gives us wings like eagles and lifts us up with his strength when we are weary!
He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
—Isaiah 40:29-31
Do you not know that in a race all the runners run,
but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to
get the prize. Everyone who competes in the games
goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown
that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that
will last forever.
—1 Corinthians 9:24-25
Lyrics
Wings
Some days the road I’m on seems
Littered with stones and thorns
They try to trip me up and break my stride
But now I’m wise to their wily ways
I won’t be caught off guard
No, gonna run this race to win the prize
Wings, oh wings, you give me wings
My feet they fly
It’s just as if I could reach up, touch the sky
Wings, oh wings, you give me wings
Like eagles fly
You give strength to the weary
No I’ll never grow, never grow tired
As I walk through the Valley
Of the Shadow of Death I’m worn out
From grief and shame and brokeness
Still you’re right there beside me
For you’ve walked this road before
So you know where all the potholes are
Even youths grow tired and weary
And young men stumble and fall
But those who put their hope in you
Will renew their strength
No, they will never faint
So I will run and not grow weary
I will walk and not be faint
