New Song “To Know God and To Make Him Known”
Here is a new song I wrote today while reading in Romans. It was also inspired largely in part by the motto of the missionary organization YWAM (Youth With A Mission).
For those who may not be familiar with the missionary organization YWAM (Youth With A Mission) my parents did a DTS (Discipleship Training School) and were on staff at the Kona base on the Big Island of Hawaii back in the early 1980s. We have a lot of friends and new ones we’ve made who are in YWAM around the world and I was inspired back in October to write this song based on the YWAM motto of “To know God and to make Him known.”
This song is also based on the passage found in Romans 10:8-15. It is a call to spread the truth and love and grace that we have received to all around us even if our mission field is the next cubicle over or our next door neighbor. You don’t have to travel overseas to have “beautiful feet” and spread the good news. This song is dedicated to all who serve in YWAM to strive to know God and to make him known as well as other missionaries around the world. May God richly bless you as you pursue him and have a servants heart.
for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!”
—Romans 10:13-15

Lyrics
To Know God and To Make Him Known
Just lift your eyes up now and look around
At a world that’s lost and dying to be found
Oh but they don’t see their own need
Who will go and plant the seeds?
Running hard and fast the other way
When truth and love and God’s amazing grace
Are right behind them and reaching out
We need to shout, “Hey, turn around!”
To know God and to make him known
To be the ones who hear the call and go
How beautiful, oh, how beautiful
To be the hands, to be the feet
To spread the Word of the Gospel of Peace
How beautiful, oh, how beautiful
We need to offer more than platitudes
Willing and able to be servants to
Meet their needs how he would use us
And learn to love like Jesus
The Son of God became a man and died
Three days later rose so you and I
If we believe, could be freed from sin
And have eternal life
How beautiful
Are the feet of those who bring good news
Cause how can they call on
The One they don’t know they need to choose?
And how can they choose him
Of whom they have never heard?
And how will they hear?
